Gardens with barbeques & playground on the beach. Life is good!
The gardens are situated next to St Kilda beach and provide open-air barbecues, playground, public toilet facilities and a heritage Edwardian-style rotunda, as well as shade under the many palm trees.

It is located on Beaconsfield Parade, St Kilda West, but we think it is best accessed via Pier Road which is less busy and often easier to park.

Who knew we had a Chinese temple in the neighbourhood?
The See Yup Kuan Ti Temple was erected on the site in 1856 and is the oldest surviving and continuously operating Chinese temple in Australia. It contains artefacts that date back to the time of its construction.

The See Yup Society of Melbourne who built, maintain and own the temple, was established in 1854 as a mutual self-help society to support those who came to Victoria from the See Yup area of Kwangtung (廣東 Guangdong) province in southern China.See Yup means “four districts”.

Linden supports brave new art by mid-career artists.
Linden New Art supports brave new art by mid-career artists and engages visitors through inspiring, thought-provoking exhibitions of new work.

They regularly seek applications from artists and curators to apply for group or solo exhibitions and give preference to .artists and curators living and working in the City of Port Phillip.

"The land where Linden New Art now stands was purchased in 1870 by Jewish immigrant Moritz Michaelis (1820-1902). The Victorian mansion was built in 1871 by notable architect, Alfred Friedrich Kursteiner (1829-1897) and the surrounding gardens were designed by landscape gardener and botanist, William Guilfoyle (1840-1912), who also famously designed Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens. Michaelis named the home Linden meaning ‘Lime Tree’ in German." - https://www.lindenarts.org/about-us/
